One couple at the church wrote: ‘We wanted to express our deepest sympathies to you all at this very sad time of year for you. The sense of loss never goes but we hope that the pain will ease for you as time passes.’ Tabak, a Dutch engineer, was convicted of Miss Yeates' murder in October and jailed for life. He will serve a minimum of 20 years in prison.

Prayers have been said in a Bristol church to remember Joanna Yeates, the young woman who died a year ago. The murder inquiry, named "Operation Braid", became one of the largest police investigations in the Bristol area. The case dominated news coverage in the United Kingdom as Yeates' family sought assistance from the public through social network services and press conferences.

Miss Yeates, 25, was killed by her neighbour Vincent Tabak in her Clifton flat. Miss Yeates's body was found by dog walkers on Christmas morning in Failand, North Somerset. Christ Church Clifton in Bristol said it wants to give people to opportunity to say a prayer for the landscape architect. They were with an anonymous card signed “A Juror”, which sent a goodwill message to her loved ones, including her boyfriend Greg Reardon.

The nearby Clifton Church has opened its doors for people to come in and offer their prayers throughout the day.
